- There are four long-distance walks in the area. Two start or end in Brecon:
- The Taff Trailis from Brecon to Cardiff Bay and covers 55 miles of beautiful mountain and moorland countryside
- Usk Valley Walk from Caerleon (Newport) to Brecon 77km.
- The 'Beacons Way' is a 161km (100 mile) 8-day walk across the Brecon Beacons National Park from Abergavenny in the East to Llangadog in the West.
- The Epynt Way is a permissive bridle path which is entirely on land controlled by the Ministry of Defence and incorporates the Sennybridge Training Area. The Epynt Way follows a route close to the boundary and is about 50 miles long.
- In the upper Senni Valley, there are three former 'Permissive Paths' that allow walkers to walk up from the road to the open mountain.
- It is important to keep dogs under control and remove faeces. From 1 March to 31 July, by law, you must keep dogs on a short lead so that they do not disturb ground-nesting birds and other animals. Full details are at http://www.breconbeacons.org/dogs
