Village Halls

Heol Senni Village Hall Press release, January 2010

Senni Village Hall is celebrating the award of a £25,000 grant from the Community Renewal Grant Scheme.  The Community Renewal Grant Scheme is being delivered by Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO) as part of the Powys Rural Development Plan 2007-2013.  The scheme aims to support local community projects that take account of a community’s needs and aspirations, improve the level of facilities available and provide a sense of place.

The grant will enable the construction of a new toilet block attached to the Village Hall.

Steve Hiscocks, Chair of the Committee said:

“The award of the grant is fantastic news for Heol Senni.  The current antiquated facilities are outside of the main building, and not easily accessed.  The new facilities will provide a whole new range of opportunities for the village, and will enable all residents to get involved throughout the year.”

Claire Sterry, Project Officer for PAVO said:

“This project is just one example of the thirteen projects we have supported.  The scheme has been highly popular, and has been accessed by small scale groups such as Senni Village Hall Committee who are working locally to improve the quality of lives of residents living there.”

Building Works

Good progress has been made, despite the weather, with the building works to produce the outer shell of the new extension. These should be completed by early June. Further funding is now being sought to enable the construction of improved disabled access and the interior fit-out of the extension. The photos below, by Richard Norgate, who is Secretary of the Committee, show the position on 1 April 2010.
